What Is Pitching?

“Hitting is timing. Pitching is upsetting timing.”

Why Curveballs Are Dangerous

A 2008 study

title

found that:

52

Yet curveballs did NOT put more stress on the elbow. Instead:

more 20consistent

Rather than risk elbow injuries from curveballs due to poor technique, throw a changeup.

What Is the Secret to A Great Changeup?

  • Having the same mechanics/release point as the fastball
  • Throwing it when behind in the count as the hitter will be looking fastball (1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2)
  • Using the weak fingers in the hand (ring finger and pinky), not the “fastball fingers” (fore/middle finger)
